Based upon the proven designs of the HSR42 and HSR45 Mikuni developed the HSR48 performance carburetor with a large 48mm venturi for use on real High Performance and Big Inch motors. Don't treat it as a simple replacement for a stock carburetor, but as a true racing part. It is meant for custom installation, not a bolt-on replacement for a stock carburetor. Mikuni strongly suggests the use of an electric fuel pump with a pressure not exceeding 4 psi on engines producing more than 120 Horsepower. You must install a fmc-720449 needle valve when using the HSR48 in conjunction with such an electric fuel pump. The HSR48 can be mounted to an S&S Super G manifold using the included Mikuni rubber adapter flange. This results in the HSR48 protruding further than a stock carburetor, so clearance with the gas tank must be checked. The HSR48 can be used with stock style cables as used on 1990-2017 Big Twin. Carburetor comes with adapter flange. Manifold must be ordered separately according to application. These manifolds do not work with OEM style manifold seals, order special S&S seals separately.
