ThunderMax Cams by Red Shift are designed to deliver unmatched performance and smooth, linear power with great valve train dynamics. ThunderMax cams are ground from one-piece 8620 steel billets utilizing the latest manufacturing techniques. Available in standard splined gear chain drive, or configured for use with S&S Gear-Drive gear sets. Red Shift recommends new cam bearings and performance tappets with any cam change. All ThunderMax cams require adjustable pushrods; spring work required unless otherwise noted as a bolt-in cam. Gear drive camshafts are supplied as a cam-only kit with front and rear cams only. For cam drive gears, as well as required gaskets, bearings and other hardware, see below.
Notes:
•Early 1999 models may require the seperate purchase of ZPN 700835 splined cam sprocket.
•Make sure you select the right cam for the job. Increasing compression ratio and/or displacement beyond the recommended range for each cam will increase cylinder pressure, which makes the engine harder to start and more likely to ping or detonate. Lower compression ratios or displacements will weaken performance at low and mid range RPM.
•A hydraulic press and other professional tools are required to install cams in Twin Cam engines. Additionally, material must be removed from the inner surface of the stock gear cover to install the S&S Gear Drive.
•New cam bearings and a new gear cover gasket are required to complete this installation. These parts are provided in the Camshaft Installation support kit. If updating from the stock Silent Chain drive system on 1999 thru 2006 models (except 2006 Dyna), order 1 set cams, 1 cam gear drive kit fmc-721948 and a Camshaft Installation Support kit fmc-721950
•If updating from the stock roller chain drive system on 2006 Dyna or any 2007-2017 Twin Cam model, order 1 set cams, 1 cam gear drive kit fmc-750871 and a Camshaft Installation Support kit fmc-750873
•Due to the characteristics of gear drives, you may experience some valve train noise.
557TC
Bolt-in cams for 88 thru 110 inch engines with stock, unmodified heads. Lowers engine temperatures, increases torque and horsepower across the board, with emphasis on torque. Spring spacing required on 1999 thru 2004 models.
575TC
Torque cams specifically designed for CVO 103" engines. Best choice for riders who want a large increase in useable torque with durability and smooth, quiet operation. Creates best power between 2000-4800 rpm for a strong pull you will enjoy with every shift. Bolt-in with CVO 103 heads or conical springs. Spring spacing required on 1999 thru 2004 models.
577TC
Performance cams for 95"-103" Twin Cam engines. Nice, smooth power and big torque in engines with good flowing heads, increased compression (9.5-10.5:1), performance ignition, exhaust and larger carb or throttle body. Bolt-in with conical springs or CVO 103 heads; runs very quiet. Can produce 105-110 rear wheel HP and torque in 95" engines.
627TC
The 627 employs valve train stability improvements for greater performance and reliability. This results in a flat torque curve with great top end power. This cam is a real powerhouse in a 103-117" engine with high compression and good flowing heads. Available for roller chain drive only.
657TC
Popular big lift cam. Designed for powerful torque applications; has produced over 120 rear wheel horsepower in a 107" engine with mild compression, mufflers and pump gas. Everything you expect from Red Shift: great performance with excellent valve train dynamics.
647TC
This cam was designed for true performance enthusiasts who require a wide, usable power curve and strong top end charge, with excellent valve control. Recommended engine size 116" and up and 10.0-10.5:1 compression. For additional power add 1.75 rockers and more compression.
